We work hard in 2nd grade, so we sometimes need a “brain break.” One way that we unwind is by listening to books on cd. It’s fun to give the students a piece of paper and let them draw what they hear. You really get to see their imagination in action! In my class, we’re working through the Magic Treehouse Series. My class would give this series two thumbs up!

Memory Monday
I teach in a classical school, and we stress memorization of jingles, poems, etc. Here is a poem that is great for memorization and celebrates Thanksgiving too.
Thanksgiving by Ralph Waldo Emerson
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
